During mass, some members of the congregation are called to aid in the distribution of the precious Body and Blood of Christ. Other times, when parishioners are unable to attend mass because of age or illness, our Caregivers have the priveledge of taking the Blessed Sacrament to them.
Lectors proclaim the Word of God in the first and second readings and also read the parish intercessions at mass. Lectors have a passion for Scripture and the ability to interpret and understand Scripture.
Altar Servers assist the priest throughout the Mass. Their participation includes carrying the cross or candles in the entrance processional, holding the lectionary for prayers and assisting in preparations for the Liturgy of the Eucharist. Altars Servers must be in fourth grade or older.
Hospitality is part of the foundation on which all of the ministries are built. That is why this role is so important. It is through hospitality that guests receive information and assistance; it is also the means by which the collection occurs, as well as the preparation of the procession of gifts, the carrying of the paschal candle for baptism, and the organization of the congregation receiving communion.
Sacristans assist in the preparation of the worship space for liturgies. Responsibilities include the care and preparation of the sacred vessels, lighting of candles and placements of the gifts, and monitoring of ministry schedules before Masses.
