The Church of St. John the Evangelist places heavy emphasis on sacred music, the purpose of which is the glory of God and the sanctification of the faithful. Sacred music lifts our heart to the Mystery of God itself, and so to the real nature and destiny of the whole reality, which experience we can humbly start grasping now because of the incarnation of Christ and the gracious gift of his Spirit to the Church.
The Church of St. John the Evangelist is committed to the preservation, presentation and promotion of the highest quality liturgical and sacred music.

All who like to sing Christmas carols are invited to join the Christmas Choir. We’ll sing carols for half an hour before the 9:30 PM Christmas Eve Mass and for Mass itself. You are invited to 4 Wednesdays of practice in the church from 7:00-8:45PM.
Resurrection Choir for Funerals
This is the choir that helps elevate prayer at funeral liturgies, and it’s a wonderful support for the family, parishioners and visitors who come to give the last farewell to our brother or sister departed to God’s house. Many people have appreciated the presence of this group. The choir simply meets half an hour before each funeral liturgy, sings familiar music and possibly learns some choral parts each time. You will be called any time there is a funeral to check your availability and you are welcome to participate as often as you are able.
Destined to people with skills on singing and reading music. Cantors share with the Director of Music and Liturgy the responsibility of leading the congregation during Mass. They schedule usually for 2 to 4 Masses a month, according to their availability.
Liturgical celebrations are always enriched by the presence of one or more instruments. We welcome any kind of instrument: woodwind, and brass wind, strings, guitar, percussion or keyboard. The Director of Music and Liturgy will provide practice time and parts for the preparation of the liturgies.
