The Right of Christian Initiation for Adults is a guided journey to prepare for sacramental initiation and entry into the Catholic Church. The journey is also one of individualized prayer, reflection and learning that allows for the continual discernment of God's plan in our lives.
Who belongs in RCIA?
The whole parish is involved in the RCIA process! Besides those seeking initiation into the Church, there are parish sponsors, prayer partners and a team of parishioners who walk the spiritual journey with the candidates.
Throughout the process, there are special celebrations, or rites, within our regular worship, or liturgy. At these ceremonies, the entire community welcomes and supports the candidates and catechumens in prayer.
It depends on the person. We respect each person's journey and allow for discernment along the way. Commitment is made in stages and a final commitment is not made until a determined time during the liturgical year. Generally, unbaptized persons are received into the Church at the Easter Vigil.
It's important, most of all, to remember that RCIA is a journey. We encourage all those with any level of interest in the Church to discover RCIA, but it does not require a permenant commitment. The journey is your own - we're here to help!
There are many options that allow for comfortable and organic spritual growth in the Church.
Our RCIA group meets every Tuesday night from 6:30-8, please contact Brian to get started!
