Preparation for First Reconciliation
Preparation for First Eucharist and First Reconciliation at the Church of St. John the Evangelist is accomplished through a combination of Faith Formation instruction either at the Parochial school that your child attends or on Wednesday nights through St. John's, and parish preparation sessions. First Reconciliation is received prior to First Eucharist. Children celebrate these sacraments when the parents, child, and sacramental coordinator feel the child is ready. As it states in the National Directory of Catechesis "Parents must be recognized as being primarily and principally responsible for their children's religious education." Therefore, it is the mission of the Co-Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist to assist our families in bringing their children into full initiation within their Catholic Community through preparation and reception of the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Eucharist by providing opportunities for children to experience and grow in their knowledge of these sacraments which will deepen their relationship with Jesus.
