Information for Voting
Voting: We have a moral and civic responsibility to vote in a democracy. Our democracy is a government “…by the people…” (Abraham Lincoln/Gettysburg Address). Our faith compels us to “participation” in our democracy. Here are 4 steps to guide us in our voting decisions:
To Register (and for further information) – https://www.olmstedcounty.gov/residents/elections-and-voting#register-tovote2
Plan – How will you cast your ballot? When will you vote?(early/absentee, by mail, Election Day) How will you get there? (to vote or return your ballot) Where is your polling place?
Educate yourself on your voting options – The Challenge of Forming Conscience for Faithful Citizenship (USCCB), look at your “sample ballot”, candidates (local, state, national), issues on ballots (local, state, national). Also, engage in open, respectful conversations.
Failure to vote on a constitutional amendment will have the same effect as voting no on the amendment.
Pray – to determine your choice based on a conscience faithfully formed.
Vote November 5, 2024 at your polling place, or earlier absentee.
