VBS Youth Leadership

Youth in grades 7-12 are grade are invited to participate as
Youth Leaders for VBS.

To make this a meaningful experience for our youth volunteers there will be a VBS track for them to grow in faith and servant leadership while serving the children participating in VBS. Please fully read and sign the Youth Volunteer Code of Conduct.

VBS Youth Leadership Schedule 8:30am-12:30pm each day

8:30am - Arrive, opening prayer/adoration and introduction of the days virtue
9:00am - Meet with adult volunteers for opening announcements
9:05am - At Stations to greet VBS campers
11:45am-12:00pm - Eat Lunch; discuss morning while eating
12:05pm-12:30pm Team Building game & activities and/or preparation for next day of VBS

*Please note exact times may be adjusted but any changes will be communicated ahead of time.

Please save these dates for Volunteer Meetings:
(youth need to be in attendance at one of the below in order to volunteer unless other arrangements are made with VBS Directors)

Wednesday, June 18th - 9:00am-12:00pm All VBS Volunteer Set-up (St. John's School Gym)
Friday, June 20th 9:00am-11:30am VBS Youth Meeting & Preparation (St. John's School Gym) *Adult volunteers are also joining the meeting from 9:00am-10:00am.

Youth Leadership Code of Conduct

While working as a youth leader, I will: - Be on time (youth leaders report from 8:30-12:30pm each day of VBS). - Communicate to the appropriate adult if I will be late or need to leave early. - Protect and guide children and other youth (minors) entrusted to my care at all times. - Treat everyone with patience, courtesy, respect, and dignity. - Be positive, supportive, and caring in my speech and interactions. - Use positive words and encouragement to change behavior and encourage others to do likewise. - Maintain appropriate physical and emotional boundaries with minors/children. - Always be in the presence of an adult when interacting with children. This means that an adult should be nearby to see and hear what I am doing and help me if I need assistance. - Promptly report to my supervisor any inappropriate or bullying behavior. - Promptly report suspected abuse to my supervisor or if it involves my supervisor, report the incident to the next person in a supervisory role, such as a pastor. - Dress appropriately, consistent with my role and assigned activities. While working as a youth volunteer or employee, I will not: - Use or possess tobacco products. Use, possess, or be under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs at any time. - Be under the influence of prescribed drugs that impair judgment. - Use or allow profanity in the presence of minors/children. - Provide or allow sexually explicit, violent, disrespectful, or otherwise inappropriate communication, music, recordings, films, games, websites, computer software, mobile device application, or other content to be used. - Have my phone out or be using it unnecessarily while fulfilling my volunteer commitment.
