Mercy Sundays: Jeremiah Program

As we explore what the Eucharistic Revival looks like in our local church, the Diocese of Winona-Rochester, we, here at the Co-Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist explore how we live out “being sent” from the Eucharist to be and reveal Christ to others.

The Good: In the early days of Christianity, it was the moral goodness of Christ's followers that brought many to believe. Mercy Sundays are opportunities during Lent for St. John's to highlight social ministries in which we already participate and to invite you to be involved as the hands and feet of Christ.

Co-Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist expresses ourselves as “A Welcoming Catholic community” through greeting in time and space, through the corporal works of mercy, hospitality, and relationships of caring. From the Eucharist, we become enlivened by the Spirit, upholding life and life choices.

Jeremiah Program –“Who wouldn’t want to feed kids! The title of the post is what caught our attention. We are so glad we followed
through....and hope to help again next time! Thanks for offering this opportunity to help feed kids!” Deb & Michael Wendt

The impacts of generational poverty and systemic racism can be disrupted two generations at a time by investing both in a mother’s vision for her future and the education of her children. Jeremiah Program Rochester-SE MN is part of a national organization with a mission to disrupt the cycle of poverty for single mothers and their children, two generations at a time. When a mother invests simultaneously in her personal and professional goals and the education of her children, she can re-author her family’s outcomes and act as a change agent within her community. Rochester Jeremiah Program campus provides housing for JP families in the 40-unit residential campus and continues to expand their 2Gen programming to reach even more moms and children in our community.

Our Catholic mission of supporting families and their choices of life includes our neighbors at Jeremiah Program who are single moms and children. There are needs and ways we can journey with these single- parent families.

St. John's will be serving on March 21. To help: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0a4bada729a3fe3-cook4kids#/
